The Decline of FiveM – Possible Reasons

Please don't get me wrong: I like FiveM (and the GTA modding scene in general), but I believe, for various reasons, that the community has gotten worse in recent years.

In the last few years, the FiveM community has seen some changes: Rockstar took over CFX.re, real tokens were banned, scripts were encrypted... All a bit strange. But:

Many games have long noticed that the quality of the community and the overall gaming experience have declined…

Toxic behavior

Unfortunately, as the platform has grown, so has the amount of toxic players who impact other players' experiences through bad behavior, cheating, and griefing.

A lot of envy, hatred, etc. has spread and I think this should be pointed out.

Far too many servers (& too many bad ones)

Everyone wants to create their own island. Yes, okay – understandable to some extent. But live out your god complexes somewhere else, lol.

The initial enthusiasm for custom servers has led to a flood of similar and often inferior servers.

The problem with Rockstar

Rockstar has taken over CFX.re – everyone knows that. Since then there has been a lot of frustration, fear and despair because nothing is happening. Nobody dares to use branded cars anymore (by the way, you can find debadged cars here) and servers that are reported are still online.

Not much has happened in the development of FiveM. Community threads in the forum are also being posted less and less. What a pity.

Everyone wants to make money

Just because certain people (cough HopeV cough Immortal) made a lot of money (and probably will continue to do so), everyone wants it now. FiveM has basically become the cow that everyone wants to milk.

Encrypted resources

FiveM, originally known as a platform for open source and modding within the GTA V community, has undergone a significant change.

What was once an enthusiastic community focused on bringing creative and innovative mods has become increasingly commercialized. Today, the focus of many developers is on making money, which is reflected in practices such as encrypting mods and the embedding of malicious software.

Platforms like Tebex Shops allow the sale of these encrypted resources, undermining the accessibility and transparency that were once core values of FiveM. This development reflects a larger issue within FiveM, where financial interests override the original vision of openness and community orientation.

As a long-time fan and player of GTA, I just hope that the community and developers can come together to solve the current problems and create a positive, welcoming and innovative environment.
